There has been a very popular petition in the UK to cancel the new president of the United States, Donald Trump’s visit to the UK. So far it has gained over 1.5million signatures (at the time of writing).
Although it is great to see the public getting behind a cause, it is a shame other (dare I say it) more important issues are not gathering the same attention.
Here are 4 petitions I think you should be signing!
All of these petitions are hosted on the government’s website and take only a few seconds to sign.
Donald Trump should make a State Visit to the United Kingdom.
This one might raise a few eyebrows. But since the UK prides itself on free speech is banning Donald Trump from visiting the UK making those signing the petition to ban his visit just as bad as him?
Perhaps not, however, I do not think its right to ban the current President of the United States from visiting the UK country when they welcomed Barrack Obama. Who in 8 years doubled the nation’s debt and sent 1657 troops to their death in Afghanistan (nearly 3 times that of George Bush!).
We suggest you sign this petition which is calling for his visit to go ahead as planned.
The legalisation of all forms of cannabis for recreational and medicinal use.
Its 2017 and like every other year before it, prohibition has not worked.
Maybe this year the UK government will follow its American & European sisters and decriminalise cannabis, heck hopefully they will even completely legalise all forms of it and control its quality & sale like more popular, yet much more dangerous drugs like alcohol and tobacco.
I don’t see it happening, but its worth 1 minute of your time.
Sign this petition is you agree that the cannabis laws in the UK do not work.
Make the uk armed forces pensions for 22 years service tax free.
The current U.K. Armed forces pensions, after 22 years service is taxable, other services are non taxable, this should be addressed and made fair across the public sector. After 20 years service, The police force recieve a 100% non taxable pension
After 20 years service, The police force receives a 100% non-taxable pension.
After 20 years service, The fire service receives a 100% non-taxable pension but can serve up to 40 years for a larger pension.
The armed forces, however serve to their immediate pension point and have their pensions taxed, and classed a second earning, this needs to be changed and made fair across the board of the public sector industry.
Don’t think this is fair? Please sign this petition.
Repeal the new Surveillance laws (Investigatory Powers Act)
This bill will allow the UK intelligence agencies shocking levels of surveillance of UK citizens.
The Investigatory Powers Act will allow the government to:
- Hack anyone’s computer, whether they are a known criminal or not.
- Read and store any information from every citizen’s computer or phone.
This law has been snuck into power without much publicity, we understand that threats are increasing online but its sickening to know that the government will have access to all your files, pictures and data regardless if you are a law abiding citizen or not.
